Rare and charming little Steiff dog in the shape of a Scottish Terrier, made around 1950-1955, fur in soft, light brown mohair with filling of wood wool (excelsior). The eyes are of the original glass, which is a clear sign of older manufacture.
It has its original black bow attached to the ears and wears Steiff's characteristic button, placed in the collar, a detail that appears on some early dog models where the ear did not lend itself to button attachment.
A great little figurine, perfect for collectors of vintage Steiff or as a nostalgic decoration.
Steiff dogs are a beloved part of the iconic German brand's range and are made with the same care, craftsmanship and high quality as the company's classic teddy bears. Each dog is uniquely designed with lifelike details, soft materials and often moving parts, making them both treasured toys and collectibles.
Unlike the bears, which wear Steiff's well-known "Knopf im Ohr" (button in the ear), many dogs instead have the button discreetly attached to the collar, a nice detail that signals authenticity and belonging to Steiff's tradition of quality since 1880.
