Little Delft History:
Between 1600 and 1800, Delft was one of the most important ceramics producers in Europe. There were over 30 manufacturing sites in the Netherlands.
Delft Blue Ceramics was extremely popular and was collected by rich families worldwide. In the latter part of the 19th century, the design was no longer sought after.
Today, only one remains in operation since 1653, and it is Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles, known as Royal Dutch, a company that continues to produce Delft Blue ceramics according to traditional methods.
Other places in and around Delft where visitors can see ceramics are De Delftse Pauw and in the many souvenir shops around the main square (Grote Markt) in Delft.
