Depending on the style you have in your scrapping, what techniques you work with and how to add color, so you can not give a clear answer.

A pen is more than just an element of writing. It is an important tool scrapbooking. Use only pigment pens because they do not fade with time, are water and förgfasta. Right pencil makes your writing and color laying a pleasure, while the wrong pen can destroy your project!

Alcohol-based pens have been around for quite a few years now, but maybe not passed through föränn few years ago, when rubber stamps took the step to become more detailed and more or less invited to be colored in any way. Alcohol-based pens have long been used in other art hobbies.

When it comes to storage of alcohol-based pens so they say "old school" of storage to be made horizontally. Nowadays, there are many who say that, for example Copic pens so it does not matter how to store them. The most important thing with alcohol-based pens are adding tillbakhatten properly.

- In the black paper, the ink is not as vivid which makes for some pens, it is very difficult to see the effect. (Especially for glitter pens)

Journaling & Calligraphy pens
Which pens should invest in the titling and journaling? Yes, it's the same here as in the introduction to this entire article, namely that it is right for you, may not suit another scrapbooker.



Your first scrapbook pen should anyway be a basic black pigment pen for journaling. These pens are both very fine lace as well as with wider tip. The best way to choose the size of the tip is to experiment and see what works best for you. Buy home a few different sizes and brands to feel for. Pens are not so expensive. When you then know what feels best you can invest in a larger variety of different colors and sizes.

When after a while want to go ahead and develop your journaling, you can try "Decorative pens". These pens have different types of lace from the ball to the calligraphy and chisel. Each pen creates its unique style.


Water-based pens allow you to work with layers. monochromatic coloring nuances and shading. Works also perfect for borders and subtitles. You add only one color with one tip and then use the other end of the pen and then get a shade of the same color!








Chalk pens (Liquid chalk) gives great effects and is designed for use on chalkboards, mirrors, message boards, laminated surfaces, metal and glass. You simply wipe the paint off with the eraser pad.

Always start by shaking the pen firmly to all liquid mix before use. Then continue with gently "shake" the tip of the stylus on the area you should apply chalk on. Thus friffar this liquid chalk until the tip is full.

A little tip when you use liquid chalk pens:

Wax-based pencils give you the property that you can work with layers upon layers of your chosen surface, the core of these pens can unfortunately often broken, for example if you drop the pen to the floor. Wax-based pencils gives you the property to create a smooth surface and to mix and mix both shades and colors.

Oil-based pens have a stronger core and thus more resistant if you drop the pen to the floor. They are also water resistant. You apply md ease layering and blending colors.
