Collect scrapbooking die-cuts / dies, you can afford it!
Take my advice and get yourself a warehouse scrapbooking die-cuts, because punched motif is so helpful in anything you create, and it does not cost you so much!
Die-Cuts / diesel basic advice
To add scrapbooking die-cut on your layout, glue the cut-out motif directly where you want. If you want to have a 3D effect, install a small piece of foam tape on the back of your die cut.
Normally punched motifs made from cardstock but if you want an upgraded look, you can use die cuts made by laser paper.

What you should consider when buying punched materials, is that the motives are made on a good quality paper, cardstock or similar material, otherwise you will be disappointed and your layout may not get the look you intended.
